Zhejiang-California
Nanoscience Institute (ZCNI) is a new and independent research institute,
located in Hangzhou and affiliated with
Zhejiang University, China. Its
division of systems biology is seeking qualified individuals to join the
exciting programs in systems biology.
Systems biology division will apply systems biology’s approach
integrating various –omics technologies (proteomics, transcriptomics etc.) and
computation for novel drug target discovery and biomarker identification for
cancer.
ZNCI is building
state-of-the-art core facilities that offer high-throughput screening,
microarray (Affymetrix) and proteomics technologies (with LTQ-Orbitrap, ABI
Qtrap4000, ABI 4800 TOF/TOF etc), next generation of ultra high throughput
sequencing technology-Solexa’s Genetic analyzer, micro-positron emission
tomography (PET) and optical imaging, NMR, and transgenic mouse production.
Several positions are
currently open:
Staff positions:
- Mass spectrometry investigator I (Position number ZCNI_SB1): In
charge of biomarker validation using Multiple reaction monitoring. Applying AQUA peptides and MRM
technologies, and using ABI’s Qtrap 4000 for biomarker discovery and
validation for cancer. Daily operation of the mass spectrometry. Duties
include daily operation of the mass spectrometry. Will provide training
for QTRAP4000.
- Mass spectrometry investigator II (Position number ZCNI_SB1):
In charge of high throughput proteomics analysis using MDLC coupled with
LTQ-Orbitrap, or LC with MALDI-TOF-TOF. Duties include daily operation of
the mass spectrometry. Will provide training of running LTQ-Orbitrap and
MDLC.
Qualifications for the above positions include M.S. or
higher degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or related field in
Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field and must have experience
in proteomics including, but not limited to, liquid chromatography, biological
mass spectrometry, and protein analysis/characterization. Experienced
investigator will be offered positions at associated professor levels.
- postdoc positions:
1)
Cancer
proteomics and systems biology. Applying state-of-the-art technologies
including proteomics to study carcinogenesis process and to identify biomarkers
for cancer diagnosis, response monitoring and prognosis. (Position number ZCNI_SBPD1).
2)
Proteomics
and systems biology of infectious agents. Applying state-of-the-art
technologies including proteomics to study mechanism of drug/antibiotic
resistant infectious agents and to identify target to overcome resistance (Position number ZCNI_SBPD2).
3)
Cancer genome
analysis: To apply the next generation of sequencing technology-Solexa’s
Sequencing by synthesis and long range PCR technology for large scale cancer
genome mutation and rearrangement analysis. (Position number ZCNI_SBPD3).
4)
Cancer drug
targets identification and nanocarrier drug delivery: To identify cancer
therapeutic targets and to achieve targeted delivery using designed
nanocarriers. (Position number ZCNI_SBPD4).
5)
Bioinformatics
and systems biology software development. To further develop software tools for
proteomics analysis, sequencing analysis and network modeling (Position number ZCNI_SBPD5).
The Center for Molecular Diagnostics in ZCNI applies
functional genomics tools with integrated microarray and nanotechnology to
develop sensitive and reliable assay methods for the early detection of
infectious pathogens and diagnosis of human diseases such as cancers. System
for such functional microgenomics includes laser capture microdissection (LCM),
nucleic acid amplification, probe labeling, microarray, and bioinformatics.
Gene expression profiles will be used to identify the classes and subclasses of
cancers with the aid of bioinformatics tools for diagnosis and treatment. The
results from such expression approach will help to introduce individualized
medicine. There are several positions available at the level of:
Group leaders: Ph.D. with at least three years of
postdoc experience in molecular biology, cancer pathology, disease
classification with microarrays or other methods. Knowledge of computer
programming and bioinformatics is a plus. Candidates with supervisory
experience will be preferred.
Postdocs: Candidates with Ph.D. in biological and
medical sciences, chemistry, and computer sciences are encouraged to apply.
Experience with protein function assay will be a plus.
Research associates: B.S. with at least three years or
M.S. with at least one year of biomedical research experience.
ZCNI
offers competitive salary, excellent and friendly working environment, strong
collaboration and opportunities with oversea universities. Interested
individuals should (1) submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae
including list of publications, and (2) list of three references or provided
three letters of recommendation. Please indicate the position number applied
for and send all materials by e-mail to: Ms. Ping Lu, human resource, hr@zcni.org
